Faculty of Science and Technology Universitas Airlangga (FST UNAIR) welcomed a delegation from RS Haji East Java on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) at the FST UNAIR Meeting Room. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in education, research, and health innovation development.
The delegation from RS Haji East Java included the Director, Vice Director, Head of Research and Development, and the hospital development team. Meanwhile, FST UNAIR invited the Vice Dean III, Heads of Departments, Department Secretaries, and lecturers who develop health innovation products.
FST UNAIR and RS Haji East Java conducted an active discussion throughout the meeting. Both institutions explored the development of a Working Laboratory concept to support research activities and health technology implementation. In addition, they designed broader collaboration programs to address the growing needs of the healthcare sector.
The partnership has already supported student internship programs and collaborative research activities. Therefore, both institutions aim to expand the collaboration to provide greater benefits for students, lecturers, researchers, and healthcare professionals.
Working Laboratory Supports Biomedical Engineering Students
FST UNAIR considers the Working Laboratory program essential for improving student competencies. For this reason, the collaboration will support internships, field practice, and joint research activities, especially for students from the Undergraduate Biomedical Engineering Program.
Students need direct experience in modern healthcare environments. Through this experience, students can understand the real challenges of healthcare technology implementation. Furthermore, they can develop innovative solutions that match community needs.
During the meeting, FST UNAIR also introduced several health innovation products. These innovations attracted strong interest from RS Haji East Java because they offer potential applications in healthcare services.
FST UNAIR Prepares Health Innovations for Working Laboratory Launch
RS Haji East Java plans to launch the Working Laboratory program around July 15, 2026. The event will involve Universitas Airlangga and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). In addition, the Governor of East Java is expected to attend the launching ceremony.
The program will integrate education, research, innovation, and healthcare services into one collaborative ecosystem. Therefore, FST UNAIR fully supports the initiative through research-based innovations and academic contributions.
At the launching event, FST UNAIR will showcase several flagship health innovations. One of the featured products is Dentolaser, developed through the research of Prof. Dr. Suryani Dyah Astuti. Winarno, S.Si., M.T. will represent the research team during the presentation. Moreover, Dr. Riries Rulaningtyas will also present her health innovation research.
Through this collaboration, FST UNAIR and RS Haji East Java aim to accelerate the development of healthcare technology in Indonesia. In addition, both institutions expect the partnership to strengthen the role of universities in supporting healthcare transformation.
