Surabaya – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) welcomed a delegation from the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST), Taiwan, in early June 2026. The visit marked an important step toward strengthening international collaboration in higher education, research, and community engagement. The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPK) served as the primary host for the visit.
Annur Ahadi Abdillah, Vice Dean III of FPK, personally welcomed four delegates from the International College of NPUST, led by the Dean of NPUST. From the outset, both institutions demonstrated a strong commitment to building a sustainable academic partnership. In addition, the participants discussed various collaborative opportunities that could benefit students and faculty members from both universities.
During the discussions, educational development emerged as a key priority. Furthermore, both parties explored opportunities for joint research addressing contemporary global challenges. Beyond that, community engagement programs were also included in the agenda as part of the implementation of the three pillars of higher education—education, research, and community service.
NPUST also introduced its graduate and doctoral study programs. As a result, UNAIR students gained valuable insights into NPUST’s educational system, curriculum structure, and scholarship opportunities. Undergraduate and Master’s students from the Biology Study Program showed great enthusiasm throughout the presentation session. Consequently, the visit broadened students’ perspectives on international education opportunities and academic mobility programs.
Faculty Support and a Well-Structured Visit Agenda
The NPUST visit to UNAIR received strong support from various departments and study programs. The Head of the Biology Department, the Coordinator of the Environmental Engineering Study Program, and the Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Biology participated in the academic discussions. Moreover, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) actively contributed to the series of activities.
A meeting held in the FST Conference Room became one of the highlights of the visit. During the session, academics from both universities exchanged ideas on curriculum development, multidisciplinary research, and academic mobility opportunities. Subsequently, they discussed strategies to enhance educational quality and expand international collaborative networks.
The visit was organized over two days. On June 3, 2026, the NPUST delegation attended a strategic meeting at FPK, followed by a welcome dinner. Meanwhile, on the following day, the delegation participated in a series of academic visits across several faculties at UNAIR.
The agenda began with lectures and discussions at FPK in the morning. Afterwards, the delegation visited the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to exchange knowledge in related academic fields. The group then continued to the Faculty of Science and Technology before concluding the visit at the Faculty of Public Health in the afternoon.
Through this visit, UNAIR and NPUST further strengthened their institutional relationship. In addition to expanding opportunities for postgraduate studies, the collaboration is expected to generate impactful joint research projects and community engagement initiatives. Therefore, both universities remain committed to developing a strategic partnership that supports the advancement of higher education, research excellence, and international collaboration on a global scale.
