Social Project by BEM FST UNAIR in Collaboration with WEPOSE’s Mentored Children at Wonokromo Surabaya Railway Side

The Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Science and Technology (BEM FST UNAIR) once again held a social project in the form of a social service. This social project collaborated with the WEPOSE Surabaya community, which focuses on children’s welfare, and took place on May 23, 2024, at the Wonokromo railway side in Surabaya.

This event was one of the work programs from the community service division, aimed at sharing happiness with marginalized children through educational and recreational activities, with an environmental theme.

With 20 participants, the activity began with speeches from the head of the organizing committee and the head of the WEPOSE Surabaya in Wonokromo Area, Kak Nadia Tasya.

After the speeches, the children were directed to the park to participate in a joint exercise session. With music playing, the children enthusiastically followed the exercise guided by the event organizers.

Next, a fun learning session about the environment was held. Divided into several groups, the organizers enthusiastically explained the concepts of reduce, reuse, and recycle. This was a new concept for the children, and it aimed to educate them on how to take good care of the environment and reduce waste.

The learning continued with a practical session where the children created collages using plastic waste and organic waste. With tools and materials provided, the children began to get creative, arranging pieces of plastic and leaves into unique and colorful collages. This activity can foster creativity and each group also learned the importance of teamwork.

To close this social project, BEM Faculty of Science and Technology presented gifts as a form of appreciation for the participation and enthusiasm of the children throughout the event.

“Thank you so much to the BEM FST UNAIR team for inviting WEPOSE to collaborate. This is the first time WEPOSE has been invited to collaborate with an environmental theme. We hope that what you have shared with the children of WEPOSE will be beneficial, and the knowledge they gained will have a positive impact on them,” said Kak Nadia Tasya.

Through this event, it is hoped that the children mentored by WEPOSE will be motivated to study harder and receive positive support. The BEM Faculty of Science and Technology extends its deepest gratitude to the donors who supported this social project. We hope that the spirit of togetherness and care will continue to have a broader impact on society.
