On March 23 – 24, 2024, BEM FST, in collaboration with Himaki, Himbio, LPM Format, and JIMM FST Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), successfully carried out the RABU PEKA (Ramadhan Penuh Berkah) Community Service Program to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. This initiative included a series of meaningful activities, such as free eye check-ups for orphans, financial aid distribution for orphaned children in collaboration with IKA FST (FST Alumni Association), sharing iftar meals with those in need, and hosting the Semarak Ramadhan prayer gathering with JIMM FST before exams.
The series of charity activities began with an open donation campaign among FST students and faculty, with the collected funds distributed to orphans and underprivileged communities. The Social Affairs Team of BEM FST UNAIR collaborated with NEC (National Eye Center) and IKA FST to provide eye check-ups for orphans at Darussalam Orphanage in Mulyorejo Baru. This initiative greatly benefited the children, as those diagnosed with vision problems were given free eyeglasses by NEC.
Another agenda from the RABU PEKA committee was organizing INSANI (Iftar and Santunan with Alumni). During this event, the committee and IKA FST provided financial aid to Ashabul Kahfi Orphanage. The orphaned children attended the INSANI event and broke their fast together with BEM FST and IKA. Several faculty members also participated in and contributed to this gathering.
Beyond INSANI, BEM FST UNAIR also held a free iftar meal distribution around campuses A, B, and C. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with JIMM, Himbio, Himaki, and LPM Format FST, with around 50 meal packages distributed to people in need. Additionally, direct financial aid and food supplies were provided to Yasiin Orphanage in Kalijudan and Roudhatul Jannah Orphanage in Mulyorejo.
The next event in the RABU PEKA series was the Semarak Ramadhan gathering with JIMM FST, featuring Ustadz Aditya Ahmad Yani as the keynote speaker. The event concluded with a prayer session (istighosah), where students prayed for success in their upcoming exams. The gathering was held solemnly, with Muslim students from eight different study programs participating to ensure the event’s success.
The RABU PEKA program provided significant benefits for students, not only by strengthening ties with alumni but also by fostering a stronger spiritual connection with God, especially for those observing Ramadan within FST.
“Our main focus in Social Affairs is charity, so we aim to provide a platform for everyone to develop themselves into individuals who care more about others,” said Rochma, the Program Coordinator for RABU PEKA.
Through the RABU PEKA program, we hope to bring meaningful contributions to others during the holy month of Ramadan.
