Global Research Partnership Expands International Collaboration
Surabaya – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) strengthened its global research networks through a strategic meeting with Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), Ghana, on May 22, 2026.
During the meeting, Prof. Ebenezer Bonyah attended as the representative of AAMUSTED Ghana. Meanwhile, the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas Airlangga welcomed the international academic delegation directly.
The meeting reflected UNAIR’s strong commitment to sustainable international cooperation. In addition, the discussion created broader opportunities for academic collaboration between higher education institutions in Indonesia and Ghana. Therefore, the event became an important step in strengthening global research networks within the international academic community.
Lecturers and researchers from various scientific backgrounds also joined the discussion. Participants represented mathematical modeling, health sciences, biology, engineering, and applied sciences. Because the participants came from multidisciplinary backgrounds, the discussion became more dynamic and collaborative.
UNAIR and AAMUSTED Discuss Research Collaboration Programs
During the first session, both institutions explored various opportunities for international research collaboration. The proposed programs included joint scientific publications, knowledge exchange initiatives, and collaborative research proposals for international funding opportunities.
In addition to discussing research programs, Prof. Ebenezer Bonyah emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary approaches in addressing global challenges. Furthermore, he shared strategies for fostering a productive research culture oriented toward high-impact international publications.
Prof. Bonyah’s expertise in mathematical modeling and epidemiology strongly aligns with several research initiatives currently being developed by lecturers at FST UNAIR. As a result, the discussion became highly interactive and generated numerous ideas for future collaboration.
Moreover, participants also discussed opportunities for academic exchange programs and innovation-based research development. Consequently, this partnership is expected to provide long-term benefits for both institutions.

In the following session, discussions focused on organizing joint international seminars and conferences. Both institutions agreed that international academic forums could significantly enhance the global visibility of research activities.
Besides expanding academic networks, international conferences can also bring together researchers from different countries within a collaborative scientific ecosystem. Therefore, both parties committed to continuously promoting joint scientific activities in the future.
Participants also emphasized the importance of maintaining long-term collaborative relationships. According to them, sustainable partnerships can accelerate research development while simultaneously improving the quality of international publications.

The partnership with Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development provides new insights into the development of entrepreneurship- and innovation-based research.
