The Airlangga Statistics Event (ARSEN) is one of the programs organized by the Student Association of Statistics (HIMASTA) of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Airlangga. ARSEN includes national-level competitions with three categories: Airlangga Statistics Olympiad (ASO) for high school students (SMA/SMK/MA equivalent), Airlangga Statistics Essay Competition (ASEC), and Airlangga Statistics Infographic Competition (ASIC) for university students.
The ARSEN 2024 event series was successfully held both online and offline. The preliminary rounds for each competition category were held online, while the final round was conducted offline at Universitas Airlangga. On Sunday, November 3, 2024, ARSEN concluded with its final round.
The final round marked the peak moment where the finalists competed live, attended by judges, students, and invited guests. Notably, the event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Miratul Khasanah, M.Si.
Prof. Dr. Miratul Khasanah, M.Si., delivered an inspiring speech to motivate the finalists to stay enthusiastic throughout the competition. She also expressed gratitude to the finalists for their active participation in ARSEN 2024 and introduced Universitas Airlangga to the finalists coming from other universities. Prof. Dr. Miratul Khasanah emphasized that the entire academic community of Universitas Airlangga is open and receptive to any feedback on the activities, especially those involving participants from outside the university.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Miratul Khasanah, M.Si., expressed her hopes that ARSEN could become a platform for both students and high school participants to innovate and excel in the fields of science and technology, particularly those involving data visualization and analysis.
ARSEN 2024 successfully served as an inspiring event for students to develop their interests and talents, especially in the fields of science and technology. With this prestigious competition, ARSEN is expected to motivate students to continue learning, innovate, and contribute positively to the development of science in Indonesia.
