On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, Prof. Dr. Suryani Dyah Astuti, M.Si. initiated an opportunity for faculty members to pursue further studies. This socialization event featured Prof. Nubuo Funabiki, who had previously given a guest lecture at the Faculty of Science and Technology about his research in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The event began with Prof. Nubuo Funabiki introducing Okayama University, covering aspects such as the campus environment, the departments within the university, the facilities available to students, the culture and food in Japan, international students studying there—particularly those under the supervision of Prof. Nubuo Funabiki, especially students from Indonesia—and, most importantly, the core topic of the event: scholarships.
In his explanation, Prof. Nubuo Funabiki provided an overview of the scholarship programs offered by the Japanese government, including the MEXT scholarship. The explanation session proceeded smoothly and was followed by a Q&A session with the faculty members present. The discussion was lively, with questions ranging from how to handle language barriers when studying in Japan, to the student experience in the Ph.D. program, and more. In response, Prof. Nubuo Funabiki explained that language issues would be supported by fellow students organized by the university. He also mentioned that the study experience would vary by department, but generally, there would be courses in English, with the majority of time dedicated to research.
The socialization event, which lasted for an hour starting at 10:00 AM, concluded successfully. The goal of this event was to provide valuable insights and strong motivation for faculty members interested in continuing their studies, as well as to strengthen the collaboration between the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Airlangga, and Okayama University.
