UNAIR NEWS – Raden Joko Kuncoroningrat Susilo berhasil ditetapkan sebagai wisudawan terbaik S2 Fakultas Sains dan Teknologi. Joko berhasil lulus dengan IPK 3.88 pada wisuda periode Maret ini.

Joko berhasil menyelesaikan tesis berjudul Efek Hepatoprotektif Ekstrak Ganoderma lucidum Terhadap Kerusakan Oksidatif Hepar mencit (Mus musculus) Setelah Diinduksi oleh Karbon Tetraklorida. Pada tesis tersebut, Joko membahas terkait bidang fisiologi hewan mengenai efek dari bahan alam yang menggunakan jamur Ganoderma lucidum untuk mengobati kerusakan akut hepar, yang pada tesisnya disebabkan oleh racun karbon tetraklorida.

Hal yang paling mengesankan selama menjadi mahasiswa S2 Biologi menurut Joko adalah saat dirinya mengerjakan tugas akhir. Yaitu ketika dirinya kesulitan mencari bahan jamur. Sehingga, mengakibatkan penelitiannya tertunda beberapa minggu dari jadwal yang seharusnya.

“Proses pembuatan ekstraknya membutuhkan waktu agak lama untuk bisa mendapatkan jumlah yang sesuai. Jumlah variabel yang saya teliti juga termasuk banyak sehingga membutuhkan konsentrasi dan kesabaran yang lebih pada saat penulisan tesis,” jelas Joko.

Selama menjalani S2, Joko lebih memilih untuk fokus pada studi. Mengingat, pada jenjang S2 mahasiswa dituntut untuk segera mendapatkan ide penelitian dan tuntutan untuk membuat publikasi berupa jurnal terindeks Scopus sebagai syarat kelulusan.

Sebagai penerima beasiswa Program Magister Menuju Doktor untuk Sarjana Unggul (PMDSU), setelah lulus magister Joko segera mempersiapkan penelitian yang akan dilakukan di jenjang doktor. Tetap setia, Joko memutuskan untuk melanjutkan studi S3-nya di Universitas Airlangga.

“Setelah lulus S3 saya berencana untuk menjadi dosen dan fokus melakukan penelitian pada bidang yang saya teliti sekarang dan memiliki research center sendiri,” ungkap Joko.

Untuk mahasiswa S2 yang sedang berjuang menyelesaikan tesisnya, Joko berpesan agar tetap fokus dan melakukan perencanaan yang baik. Karena ketika sudah fokus dan terencana, maka keinginan dan usaha untuk bisa segera lulus akan semakin tinggi.

UNAIR NEWS – Raden Joko Kuncoroningrat Susilo was named best graduate of Faculty of Science and Technology‘s Master’s Programs. Joko successfully graduated with 3.88 GPA in March graduation.

Joko completed his thesis entitled Hepatoprotective Effect of Ganoderma lucidum Extract on Liver Oxidative Damage of Mice (Mus musculus) After Induced by Carbon Tetrachloride. In the thesis, Joko discusses the field of animal physiology regarding the effects of natural ingredients that use Ganoderma lucidum to treat acute liver damage, which in his thesis is caused by carbon tetrachloride poison.

The most impressive thing while being a postgraduate Biology student according to Joko was when he was working on his final assignment. That is when he had difficulty finding mushroom ingredients, so his research was delayed a few weeks behind the schedule.

“The extraction process takes a long time to get the right amount. The number of variables that I researched also a lot so I needed more concentration and patience at the time of writing the thesis,” Joko explained.

During his Master’s studies, Joko chose to focus on studies as postgraduate students are required to immediately get a research idea and are demanded to make a publication in a Scopus indexed journal as a graduation requirement.

As a scholarship recipient of Master’s Toward Doctorate for Outstanding Bachelor (PMDSU) Program, after graduating from the master’s degree, Joko immediately prepares research for the doctoral level. Joko decided to continue his doctoral studies at Universitas Airlangga.

“After graduating from doctorate program, I plan to become a lecturer and focus on doing research in the field that I am researching now and have my own research center,” said Joko.

For postgraduate students who are struggling to complete their thesis, Joko encouraged them to stay focused and have better planning. Because when it is focused and planned, the desire and effort to be graduate will be better.
