UNAIR NEWS – Meski telah menjalin kerja sama dengan puluhan mitra asing, momen pameran pendidikan skala internasional dimanfaatkan oleh Fakultas Sains dan Teknologi untuk menambah jejaring. Untuk itu, faculty ambassador FST UNAIR turut serta dalam pameran bertajuk Asia-Pacific Association for International Education Conference and Exhibition (APAIE) 2019, yang berlangsung di Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia, Selasa-Kamis (26-28/3/2019).

Dalam pameran pendidikan terbesar se Asia-Pasifik itu, faculty ambassador FST UNAIR Dr. Nurina Fitriani., S.T berhasil menjaring setidaknya 10 perguruan tinggi asing yang berpotensi untuk diajak kerja sama.

Sebanyak 10 perguruan tinggi itu antara lain Daffodil International University, National Cheng Kung University, National Taiwan University, Chulalongkorn University, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, dan Kasetsart University.

“Kami membicarakan kerja sama, baik itu exchange student maupun staff. Tidak hanya itu saja, pengembangan kerja sama nantinya akan dilakukan dengan joint riset dan joint publikasi,” ujar Nurina usai pameran pada Kamis sore (28/3/2019).

Dalam pertemuan strategis itu, salah satu yang menarik adalah tawaran dari pemerintah Kanada untuk bekerja sama dengan tiga fakultas di UNAIR, antara lain fakultas perikanan dan kelautan, fakultas keperawatan, serta fakultas sains dan teknologi.

Dikatakan Nurina bahwa hingga tahun 2019 ini, FST UNAIR telah bekerja sama dengan setidaknya 30 perguruan tinggi dari berbagai negara. Yang sudah berlangsung, kerja sama itu berupa riset dan publikasi bersama, adjunct professor, visiting fellows, dan student exchange. Sebagian besar perguruan tinggi itu berasal dari wilayah di Asia Tenggara, seperti Malaysia, Thailand, dan Myanmar.

Salah satu program internasional FST yang banyak menarik masa adalah program short course yang berlangsung selama dua minggu. Program itu berupa KKN internasional yang kerjasama dengan BEM FST.

“Kami mengundang 20 mahasiswa asing untuk mengikuti program itu (short course, Red). Tahun ini kami akan mengundang mahasiswa dari Universitas Putra Malaysia,” ucap Nurina.

Melalui keikutsertaan dalam APAIE ini, Nurina berharap dapat meningkatkan jejaring FST UNAIR dengan semakin banyak mitra asing. Baik di tingkat departemen, fakultas, maupun universitas.

“Menambah jumlah academic peer list, mengaktifkan kembali MoA dan MoU yang sudah kami lakukan. Karena banyak MoU yang sleeping MoU,” terang Nurina.

Nurina juga berharap, usai kegiatan APAIE, segera ada tindak lanjut antara kedua belah pihak. Bisa dimulai dengan mengirim mahasiswa untuk mengikuti student inbound maupun outbound.

Sebagai informasi, dalam pameran pendidikan terbesar se Asia-Pasifik tersebut, UNAIR membuka booth bersama ratusan perguruan tinggi di dunia. Di antaranya dari Malaysia, Australia, Singapura, Korea, Taiwan, Hungaria, Polandia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Spanyol, Hongkong, Thailand, Jepang, Prancis, Jerman, India, Turki, dan Belanda. (*)

UNAIR NEWS – Despite its cooperation with tens of international partners, moments like international education fair is utilized by Faculty of Science and Technology for networking. For this purpose, the faculty ambassador of FST UNAIR participated in the exhibition titled Asia-Pacific Association for International Education Conference and Exhibition (APAIE) 2019, which was held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia, from Tuesday to Thursday (26-28/3/2019).

During the biggest education fair in Asia-Pacific, the faculty ambassador of FST UNAIR, Dr. Nurina Fitriani., S.T managed to network with at least 10 foreign universities that have the potential to cooperate with FST UNAIR.

Those 10 universities include Daffodil International University, National Cheng Kung University, National Taiwan University, Chulalongkorn University, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and Kasetsart University.

“We are talking about cooperation, both in the form of student exchange and staff exchange. Not only that, development of cooperation will be conducted in the form of joint research or joint publication,” said Nurina after the exhibition on Thursday afternoon (28/3/2019).

In that strategic meeting, one of the interesting things is the offer from the Government of Canada to cooperate with three faculties in UNAIR, namely Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Faculty of Nursery, and Faculty of Science and Technology.

Nurina said that up until 2019, FST UNAIR has cooperated with at least 30 higher education institutes from around the world. The ongoing cooperations are joint researches and publications, adjunct professor, visiting fellows, and student exchange. Most of the institutes are in South East Asia, such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Myanmar.

One of FST’s international programs that attracted a lot of people is a short course program that lasted for two weeks. That program is an international community service in cooperation with Executive Student Council of Faculty of Science and Technology.

“We invited 20 foreign students to participate in that program (short course, Red). This year, we will invite students from Universitas Putra Malaysia,” Nurina mentioned.

By participating in APAIE, Nurina expects FST UNAIR can increase its network with more international partners in department, faculty, or university level.

“We add more numbers to the academic peer list and reactivate MoA and MoU that we have previously done because many of which are sleeping MoU,” explained Nurina.

Nurina also expects that after APAIE, follow up action will be taken immediately by both parties. It can be initiated by sending students to participate in student inbound and outbound programs.

For your information, in the biggest education exhibition in Asia-Pacific, UNAIR opened a booth with hundreds of other higher education institutes in the world. Some of them are from Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Hungary, Poland, New Zealand, Switzerland, Spain, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, France, Germany, India, Turkey, and the Netherlands.
