This meeting marked an important milestone in strengthening the global partnership between the Environmental Engineering Program of the Faculty of Science and Technology at <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Universitas Airlangga<\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Nanyang Technological University<\/span><\/span>. The session ran from 10:00 to 12:00 WIB and gathered key academic leaders and faculty representatives.<\/p><br\/><p data-start=\"895\" data-end=\"1365\"><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting welcomed Vice Dean III of FST, Prof. Dr. Fatmawati, Head of the Environmental Engineering Study Program Nur Indradewi Oktavitri, faculty representatives, and visiting academic Tuti Mariana Lim from NTU Singapore. From the beginning, participants shared ideas actively and focused on identifying practical opportunities for collaboration. As a result, the discussion developed into a productive and forward-looking dialogue.<\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h2 data-section-id=\"15m0bp4\" data-start=\"1372\" data-end=\"1418\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"1375\" data-end=\"1418\">Discussion on the 3+1+1 Pathway Program<\/strong><\/span><\/h2><br\/><p data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1830\">Participants centered the first session on the proposed <strong data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1501\">3+1+1 pathway program<\/strong>. This scheme allows students to complete three years of study at UNAIR, one year at NTU, and an additional year in a master\u2019s program. Through this structure, students can gain international academic exposure earlier in their academic journey. Consequently, graduates will be better prepared to compete in the global job market.<\/p><br\/><p data-start=\"1832\" data-end=\"2222\"><\/p><\/h5>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2B-1024x473.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23096\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2B-1024x473.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2B-300x139.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2B-768x355.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2B.jpeg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><p data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1830\">Participants centered the first session on the proposed <strong data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1501\">3+1+1 pathway program<\/strong>. These aspects play a critical role in ensuring smooth student mobility between institutions. Furthermore, the discussion highlighted scholarship opportunities and academic readiness requirements for students. Participants exchanged insights and recommendations to ensure the program can be implemented effectively.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, student exchange was identified as the most realistic starting point. Such initiatives will broaden students\u2019 global perspectives while strengthening international academic networks. At the same time, lecturers will benefit from expanded opportunities for collaborative teaching and joint publications. Therefore, the participants agreed that the 3+1+1 pathway represents a long-term strategic investment for both institutions.<\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><h2 data-section-id=\"loql9v\" data-start=\"2671\" data-end=\"2727\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"2674\" data-end=\"2727\">Research Collaboration and Academic Strengthening<\/strong><\/span><\/h2><br\/><h5 data-start=\"2729\" data-end=\"3110\"><\/h5><\/h5>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second session focused on potential research collaboration between the Environmental Engineering programs of both universities. Participants identified several priority research areas, including urban environmental challenges, waste treatment technologies, climate change, and water resource management. These themes closely align with current global sustainability challenges.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"591\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2C.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23100\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2C.png 591w, https:\/\/fst.unair.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2C-300x246.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 591px) 100vw, 591px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, the meeting explored opportunities for joint research projects, international seminars, and visiting professor programs. These initiatives can significantly enhance the quality of scientific publications and strengthen the academic reputation of both institutions. In addition, laboratory collaboration emerged as a promising opportunity because both universities possess complementary research facilities.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a follow-up action, participants agreed to prepare a formal memorandum of understanding to support long-term collaboration. They also committed to maintaining close communication to accelerate implementation.
