Surabaya – The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), welcomed an educational visit from 120 students of SMAN 1 Wonoayu, Sidoarjo, on Wednesday (January 14, 2026). The visit aimed to introduce senior high school students to university life at an early stage. The activity took place from 09.00 to 10.30 WIB in Room 312 of the FST UNAIR Building.
Opening Remarks by the Vice Dean I of FST UNAIR
The Vice Dean I of FST UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Mochamad Zakki Fahmi, M.Si., officially opened the event with a warm welcome. On this occasion, he expressed his appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm. He also emphasized the importance of early preparation for high school students in determining the right pathway toward higher education
Presentation on Admission Pathways and Study Program Selection Strategies
The main session was delivered by Mrs. Siti Zahidah, S.Si., M.Si., a lecturer from the Mathematics Study Program of FST UNAIR. She provided a comprehensive overview of Universitas Airlangga, covering available admission pathways as well as the level of competition among study programs.
In particular, Mrs. Siti Zahidah explained the list of the ten most competitive study programs at UNAIR. This information is expected to help students develop effective strategies in selecting study programs that align with their interests and academic abilities.
Introduction to the Faculty of Science and Technology UNAIR
In the following session, the students were introduced more closely to the Faculty of Science and Technology UNAIR. The presentation covered the range of study programs offered at FST UNAIR, supporting facilities for academic activities, and opportunities for developing students’ soft skills.
The session also highlighted the career prospects of FST UNAIR graduates. Alumni have successfully pursued careers across various sectors, including industry, research, and entrepreneurship. This explanation provided students with a concrete picture of future academic and professional opportunities.
Interactive Discussion and Students’ Enthusiasm
Throughout the activity, the discussion session ran interactively. Many students actively asked questions about strategies to enter their desired study programs as well as student organizational life on campus. The strong enthusiasm reflected the optimism of SMAN 1 Wonoayu students to become part of the Airlangga Knights.
Strengthening Educational Synergy
Through this activity, FST UNAIR expects to strengthen institutional relations with SMAN 1 Wonoayu. This educational visit is also expected to motivate students to study more diligently in pursuit of their aspirations to continue their education at leading universities.
