In order to expand academic collaboration and increase active role in international scientific forums, lecturers of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Prof. Dr. Nur Chamidah, M.Si. from Department of Mathematics and Dr. Sugiharto, M.Si. from Department of Biology, conducted Staff Mobility Program to Malaysia on May 6-8, 2025.
The first activity, on May 6-7, 2025, the two UNAIR lecturers participated as Invited Speakers in the International Conference and Workshop on Basic and Applied Science (ICOWOBAS) 2025 organized by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). In the conference session, Prof. Dr. Nur Chamidah presented research results entitled “Modeling of Hypertension Risk Based on Age, Body Mass Index, and Psychological Factors Using Local Linear Estimator”, which raised the mathematical modeling approach to hypertension risk. On the other hand, Dr. Sugiharto presented his research on “Potency of Zingiber officinale and Boesenbergia rotunda as Stimulators of Endogenous Antioxidant Enzymes in the Kidney of Lead-Exposed Mice”, which highlighted the potential of phytopharmaca in mitigating oxidative stress in the kidney.
Continuing their visit, on May 8, 2025, UNAIR delegates visited the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAS) and Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (FCMS) at Universiti Teknologi MARA Kampus Pasir Gudang (UiTMPG). This activity was carried out in a round table discussion to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, including: education and teaching (joint class and joint supervision), collaboration in research and scientific publications, international community services, and so on.
It is hoped that with this visit, it can improve and expand the innovative research collaboration that has previously been carried out, as well as establish cooperation between the Research Group at FST Unair and the Research Group at UiTMPG, especially in the fields of life science and bioscience.
