
Surabaya, April 28, 2025 – Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) officially opened a student exchange program entitled STAR (Statistics Together Across Regions), which is an inbound student activity from Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). This activity took place in the Conference Room of Faculty of Science and Technology UNAIR which began at 13.00 WIB.
A total of 20 students of Statistics, FST, UKM attended this activity, accompanied by Dr. Nor Hamizah Miswan, a representative of the lecturer staff of FST, UKM. At the opening of the event, representatives from the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) UNAIR, who attended included Prof. Dr. Fatmawati, M.Si. as Vice Dean III for Internationalization, Dr. Fariz Fadillah Mardianto, M.Si. as FST Public Relations and at the same time the activity coordinator representing Statistics Study Program lecturers, Mrs. Inten Firdhausi Wardhani, S.T., M.Sc. as Faculty Ambassador FST UNAIR, several Statistics study program lecturers, and HIMASTA FST UNAIR students.
The event began with remarks from Dr. Nor Hamizah Miswan as a representative of Malaysian UKM lecturers, followed by remarks from Dr. Fariz Fadillah Mardianto, M.Si. as activity coordinator and then remarks from Prof. Fatmawati as a representative of the leadership of FST UNAIR who also opened “The Statistics Mobility Program”. In her opening remarks, Prof. Fatmawati expressed her warmth for the arrival of the UKM delegation and emphasized the importance of this program as a medium of exchange of knowledge and culture between the two institutions. She mentioned that the STAR program is a bridge to strengthen the relationship between UNAIR and UKM and support the internationalization of academic life.
“This program is a learning experience that transcends borders and we really appreciate it,” said Prof. Fatmawati in her speech. She also emphasized that student exchanges like this will enrich knowledge, broaden horizons, and improve student adaptability.

The series of events took place with great enthusiasm. The event continued with the screening of FST UNAIR profile video, Statistics study program profile video, and continued with the showing of UKM profile video. Giving souvenirs from UNAIR and a group photo session marked the end of the activity at 14.00 WIB.
With the implementation of this Student Mobility Program, it is hoped that it can strengthen collaboration between regions and advance higher education through inclusive and sustainable international activities.
