Faculty of Science and Technology Universitas Airlangga Hosts Visit from Nazarbayev University for Initiation of International Collaboration

Surabaya, December 30, 2024 – The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Universitas Airlangga (Unair) welcomed a visit from Prof. Alfrendo Satyanaga Nio, a professor at Nazarbayev University and an Adjunct Professor at FST Unair. The visit aimed to discuss the opportunities for initiating international collaboration in various fields of science.

During the visit, Prof. Alfrendo was accompanied by Prof. Fatmawati, Vice Dean III for Internationalization, Dr. Eko Prasetyo Kuncoro, S.T., DEA., Coordinator of the Environmental Engineering Undergraduate Program, and Dio Alif Hutama, S.T., M.Sc., Lecturer of the Environmental Engineering Program, who acted as the guide throughout the visit.

The event began with a warm atmosphere through informal discussions about the campus environment at Universitas Airlangga and the dynamics at the Faculty of Science and Technology. This discussion served as an initial moment to strengthen the relationship between the two parties, followed by a more in-depth presentation about various international collaboration programs and initiatives that FST Unair has already implemented and plans to carry out in the future.

In the next session, Prof. Alfrendo delivered a presentation about Nazarbayev University and the department he represents, while also sharing interesting information about Kazakhstan as a rapidly developing country in education and innovation. This presentation provided new insights to FST Unair regarding the potential for cross-border collaborations, especially in the fields of science, technology, and the environment.

This activity is expected to be a solid first step in establishing a closer collaboration between Universitas Airlangga and Nazarbayev University, as well as opening up opportunities for academic collaborations, research, and student exchanges in the future.
