DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY OF THE FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, AIRLANGGA UNIVERSITY CONDUCTS A WORKING VISIT TO LABINKIMAT

Thursday, December 19, 2024 – In order to enhance the professionalism and competence of laboratories, the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Airlangga University, conducted a working visit to the Chemistry and Materials Master Laboratory (Labinkimat) of the Research and Development Agency (UPT Dislitbangal), led by the Head of Labinkimat, Colonel (Navy) Ardiansyah, S.E., S.T., M.T.CHRMP, along with the laboratory staff.

The visit was attended by the Head of the Chemistry Department, Prof. Mochamad Zakki Fahmi, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., the Secretary of the Department, Dr. Alfa Akustia Widati, S.Si., M.Si., and senior Organic Chemistry lecturer, Prof. Dr. Alfinda Novi Kristanti, D.E.A. The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential research collaborations based on preliminary studies aimed at solving several issues in the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) environment.

The discussion began with a presentation on research by Dr. Alfa Akustia regarding “Hydrophobic Coatings as Anti-Corrosion Coatings for Ship Steel,” which is being conducted in collaboration between Labinkimat and the Chemistry Department of Airlangga University. The collaboration involves sharing equipment and personnel with the goal of increasing the resistance of ship steel plates to corrosion. This was followed by a discussion between Prof. Alfinda and Prof. Zakki with the Head of Labinkimat and staff officers regarding fuel additives from ENOCO PLASMA products used in the 2nd Fleet Command (Koarmada 2). Through Prof. Alfinda, the Department of Chemistry will assist in analyzing the contents and compound composition of the ENOCO PLASMA fuel additives using the appropriate supporting instruments available at the Chemistry Department of Airlangga University.

It is hoped that this visit will foster an even stronger collaboration between Labinkimat Dislitbangal and the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Airlangga University, in order to support the maintenance and enhance the operational readiness of the Indonesian Navy’s defense equipment.
